After taking diagnostic records and tailoring your treatment plan to meet your specific needs, your new set of teeth will be custom fabricated for a precise and comfortable fit. 45202 Dental Office

Are you looking for a Dental Office in 45202?

Are you thinking about improving the appearance of your teeth? Do you wish that your smile was whiter and brighter? If the answers to these questions are ‘yes,’ then the Fountain Square Cosmetic Dental Group has some good news for you. At our 45202 dental office, we offer an extensive selection of services to help you reach your aesthetic goals. Among our most popular cosmetic services is our advanced whitening procedure that produces dramatic results in as little as a one-hour appointment at our office. We also provide a customized at-home teeth whitening system which produces excellent results, more gradually – typically over the course of two weeks or less. Exposure to pigmented food and beverages, tobacco use, and even aging can cause your teeth to lose their pearly white quality. As you get older, the enamel of your teeth begins to thin, exposing more of the yellowish, underlying dentin. A professional whitening procedure can transform stained and discolored teeth into a beautiful, radiant smile.

Of course, if you’ve been to any grocery store or pharmacy recently, you would be hard pressed not to notice the plethora of over-the-counter products populating the aisles that claim to whiten teeth. However, not only do these products vary in their method of use, and most importantly effectiveness, some have been found to contain abrasive ingredients that can be harmful to your teeth. The safest and most effective whitening systems are available from your skilled, experienced dental professionals at their conveniently located 45202 dental office.

If you’re considering receiving any treatment to enhance your smile, please call us at Fountain Square Cosmetic Dental Group. We have helped countless patients reach their aesthetic goals and are confident we can do the same for you. Call our 45202 dental office today to schedule an appointment.

Add a Little Sparkle to Your Summer Smile!

Posted by FountainSquareCosmeticDentalGroup | Filed under , , , ,

Wanting to make that summer tan of yours a little darker? One way to accomplish that and avoid more UV rays is to bleach your teeth, for more contrast! There are many reasons for your teeth to become discolored or stained, most of them you can control, a few you cannot. The following is a short list of causes and cures.

1.       Drinks-Coffee and tea are the most common culprits causing staining of the teeth. Try to avoid sipping on these drinks over prolonged periods of time and try rinsing with water afterwards. This stain can be removed with regular cleanings and professional whitening treatments.

2.       Smoking/Tobacco-Smoking and chewing tobacco can have a negative effect on tooth color, gingival health, and breath. Of course, the best solution to this problem is to never start smoking or try to quit if you already do. Most of the sticky, tar-like tobacco stain can be removed during cleanings and whitening treatments can help minimize the yellowish color caused by the smoking.

3.       Dental restorations-Old silver fillings (amalgam) can tend to break down around the margins (edges) over time and can sometimes show through the enamel making the tooth look dark and gray. These restorations can be replaced with tooth colored restorations (composites) to reverse this effect.

4.       Age-Unfortunately, as we get older the outer, white layer of enamel tends to wear thin, causing the teeth to look more yellow. Porcelain veneers or dental bonding can help replace the missing outer later and restore that youthful glow.

5.       Chemicals and Medications-During tooth development as a child, certain antibiotics such as tetracycline or excess ingestion of fluoride can cause permanent tooth staining. This type of stain cannot be removed with a cleaning or bleaching; porcelain veneers or cosmetic bonding can be used to cover up the facial aspect of the tooth and give them a new face.

As always, genetics can also play a role in changing tooth colors. To keep your smile brighter and whiter, come in for regular prophylaxis cleanings and ask us about cosmetic options. Summer is the best time to give that smile a little sparkle, giving you that fresh “vacation” look!

Spotlight on Oral Cancer

Posted by FountainSquareCosmeticDentalGroup | Filed under , ,

This month the American Dental Association is shining a spotlight on oral cancer. One reason they want to increase the awareness of oral cancer is because 2/3 of the time, oral cancer is discovered in the late stages, with a 5-year survival rate of only 30%. The second reason for this increased awareness is that more cases of oral cancer are caused by exposure to the human papilloma virus (HPV), specifically the HPV-16 strain. This is the same sexually transmitted virus that is the main cause of cervical cancer in women; however oral cancer is far more common.

Regular dental visits where an oral cancer screening or exam is performed are the best hope for early detection. If we can detect oral cancer in the early stages, the 5-year survival rate significantly improves to 80% to 90%.

In the month of April the American Dental Association and the Oral Cancer Foundation are joining together and offering free oral cancer screenings in select cities. Check the Oral Cancer Foundation website at to find a free screening near you.

The two distinct risk factors for developing oral cancer are tobacco and alcohol use. The most important thing that you can do is visit your dentist regularly and have them conduct an oral cancer exam at least once a year. Our office routinely performs this exam at all of your prophylaxis appointments. You don’t even have to ask!

Hello Chicago!

Posted by FountainSquareCosmeticDentalGroup | Filed under , ,

The entire office recently got back from the Chicago Dental Society 146th Midwinter Meeting. While we were there, we attended a few seminars and continuing education courses, looked into new products and technology, and of course, did a little shopping!

Our assistants, Megan, Katie, and Amanda, attended a principle-based course on improving patient satisfaction, smile enhancement, and laser therapy. Our front office staff, Teresa and Sheryl, learned how to communicate more effectively and help the practice run smoothly. The hygienists, Brandie, Devin, and Erica, became more knowledgeable about the multifaceted world of medicine and how we play a vital role in our patients’ overall health and well-being. We left the heavy lifting up to the doctors of course. They were on a mission to find the latest and greatest in the world of dentistry!

Throughout the year, the office staff attends various courses to stay up to date on treatment protocols in order to provide our patients with the best treatment possible. We take pride in the advancements that have been made in dentistry and spend upwards of 40 hours a year outside of the office keeping up with everything.

Don’t worry, our time in Chicago wasn’t all spent in seminars! We did get to eat at the famous Weber Grill, and do a little shopping on Michigan Avenue. Feel free to ask us about our trip next time you are in the office!

Yes, we do treat children!

Posted by FountainSquareCosmeticDentalGroup | Filed under , , ,

One of the most common questions that we get in the office is, “do you see children?”  Yes! We treat patients of all ages. In recognition of children’s dental health month and the Give Kids a Smile Campaign, we wanted to give you some information on your child’s oral health.

Children’s teeth begin forming before birth and typically start erupting by 6 months old. Normally, the first primary teeth to erupt are the lower central incisors followed by the upper central incisors. All 20 primary teeth usually appear by age 3, however the pace and eruption sequence may vary.

Oral care should begin soon after birth, wiping the gums with a clean, damp cloth after each cleaning. As soon as your child’s teeth begin appearing you should start brushing. You can schedule their first dental visit around 3 years of age, as all of the primary teeth should be present. Of course, if you have any concerns with your child’s tooth development you can always bring them in earlier, or call and we would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

For your convenience Drs. Meyer and Harris offer afternoon and Saturday appointments. We are happy to provide your child with a pleasant first dental experience!

Your Valentine's Day Dilemma Solved!

Posted by FountainSquareCosmeticDentalGroup | Filed under , , ,

If you are looking for something to get your Valentine this year, head for the candy aisle! According to the American Heart Association, high-quality chocolate can help protect your sweetheart's heart. Studies show that consuming moderate amounts of chocolate can help lower womens risk for heart failure. Chocolate contains compounds called "flavonoids" that can help lower blood pressure. Higher cocoa content is associated with greater heart benefits, so dark chocolate is the best, in moderation of course.

You can lower your risk of developing heart failure by consuming 1 to 2 servings of high-quality chocolate per week. Notice that is per week-it's no secret that chocolate is a relatively calorie-dense food and consuming excess amounts can increase the risk for weight gain. If women follow these recommendations, they can decrease their chances of developing heart failure by 30%!

At Fountain Square Cosmetic Dental Group, we care about your heart, so go get that chocolate!

Drs. Meyer and Harris Provide Free Dental Treatment!

Posted by FountainSquareCosmeticDentalGroup | Filed under , , ,

Did you know that every year Drs. Meyer and Harris, and their staff, donate thousands of dollars in free dental treatment? Last year alone, they provided over $11,000 worth of dental treatment to individuals participating in the Dental Options program! Dental Options is a program sponsored by the Ohio Dental Association and the Ohio Department of Health. This is a great program that links people in need with dentists who have agreed to treat approved patients at significantly reduced fees, or no fee at all. Dr. Meyer and Dr. Harris are happy to help those who need it most. If you are interested in this program, you can find more information at the Dental Options website.

Along with the Dental Options program, Drs. Meyer and Harris are active in a number of other programs throughout the community. Dr. Harris is currently serving his second term as a council member for the Cincinnati Dental Society (CDS). This is a non-profit corporation that promotes public health and welfare through service, education and charitable endeavors.  The goal of the Cincinnati Dental Society is to advance the dental profession through education and mutual cooperation among its members. Dr. Harris is also on the technology committee for the CDS.

Dr. Meyer currently sits on three committees.  The Program Committee brings in the continuing education courses to Cincinnati.  He’ll be chairing that committee in 2012.  The Access to Dental Care Committee, organizes the Give Kids a Smile event in February each year and the “Leave No Vet Behind” event in which  free dental services are provided to those kids and vets who fall through the cracks.  The Media and Public Relations committee provides feedback from organized dentistry to the local community. Dr. Meyer also serves on the Credentialing and Utilization Review committees for the insurance company, Dental Care Plus.  The Utilization Review committee sets insurance company policy and reviews appealed claims from subscribers.

At Fountain Square Cosmetic Dental Group we strive to be active participants in our community and give back as much as we can. As you can see with their list of extracurricular activities the doctors are busy behind the scenes as well as in the office.  Feel free to ask them questions about any of these topics when you visit.
